Of particular interest to me is Evia (or Euboea), the second largest island in Greece, and an actual paradise of herpetofaunal diversity. Although a total of 40 species has already been recorded from the island, we know very little about the distribution of these taxa throughout the area, and the distributional patterns of some of these species is largely enigmatic. With a total land area of 3,684 km, certain parts of Evoia remain unsurveyed.
Our Evian project focuses on gathering as many prospected localities as possible, and we are dedicated to conducting further fieldwork on this island in the future. Since 2020, we have managed to cover several localities throughout the north, central and south parts of the island, as well as some of its satellite islet groups.
